Emphasis on the retraining and retraining of the domestic workforce with a focus on the technology sector was given by the governor of the DYPA, Spyros Protopsaltis, in the context of his participation in the Huawei Talent Summit held at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Mr. Protopsaltis, in a discussion he had with journalists, pointed out that the largest vocational training activity is underway in our country and indicated that it will soon be enriched with a new program that will involve the use of artificial intelligence tools, funded by the Recovery Fund. We have secured the resources from the Recovery Fund with the aim of training 500,000 workers by 2025, emphasizing skills that will be needed in the coming years but also on categories of workers who are underrepresented, such as women in technology who have double the unemployment rates . More than 215,000 have been trained and certified and another 39,000 unemployed are in the program for the second cycle. In other words, we have reached about half of the goal, said Mr. Protopsaltis.

Asked about the fact that in Greece there is a large lack of jobs in various sectors of the economy and not only, Mr. Protopsaltis attributed this to three reasons.

In the fact that for decades the education and training system was not interconnected with the needs of the economy and its branches, resulting in overproduction of specialties with low demand and underproduction of specialties with high demand.

It is also due to issues related to the geographical demand and supply of labor, as well as the lack of actions to disseminate information about the labor market. At this point, he referred to the Career days that DYPA has been organizing with great success for the last 3.5 years and which have already brought results.
