When to suspect that it is a malicious phone call – Recommendations to citizens: from the Greek police
In recent days, there has been an increase in incidents of attempts to deceive citizens, through fraudulent-malicious phone calls (Vishing), which manifest themselves in the following ways:
Phone calls from mainly Greek numbers, where reproduced recorded messageusually in the English language, which allegedly originates from police authorities (of our country as well as abroad) and aims to intercept personal information and data, with the ultimate goal of financial fraud.
Telephone calls from people impersonating accountants or representatives reliable organizations-carrierssuch as EFKA, DEDDIE etc., where under various pretexts, such as the alleged return of a sum of money or the payment of a relevant allowance (e.g. Market Pass), they try to steal bank details [αριθμούς πιστωτικών-χρεωστικών καρτών, διαπιστευτήρια εισόδου σε λογαριασμούς ηλεκτρονικής τραπεζικής (e-banking)].

Recommendations to citizens:
- Be very careful when receiving such calls.
- Never disclose personal or bank details over the phone.
- Do not follow suspicious hyperlinks (links) that you receive after corresponding phone calls.
