Apple on Tuesday announced a new version of the iPhone SE, which includes 5G connectivity, a new iPad Air and a faster chip for Mac computers.
The entry price of the new version of the iPhone SE is US$429 compared to US$399 for the previous model. Sales are expected to start on March 18.
In Brazil, the official price of the device is R$ 4,199 for the version with 64 GB of memory. There is still no date for the launch of the smartphone in the country.
The iPhone SE comes with an A15 Bionic chip, which Apple says is the fastest among the competition, a 4.7-inch screen, 5G connectivity and a home button with fingerprint recognition.
The United States, Japan and Western Europe have been key markets for the iPhone SE in recent years, according to research firm IDC.
Apple also announced a new chip, called the M1 Ultra, to improve the performance of Mac desktops. The M1 Ultra connects two M1 Max chips and is eight times faster than the M1 processors.
The new iPad Air on Tuesday received the first update in two years, with a new design, 5G connectivity and M1 chipset, popular in MacBooks. The price of the tablet, which now comes equipped with a 12-megapixel front camera, continues to start at US$ 599 (R$ 6,799, in Brazil) and will be available from March 18.
Apple also released the Mac Studio desktop and Studio Display monitor, which can be connected to any Mac, including MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.
Apple will offer two versions of Mac Studio, one with the M1 Max chip and one using the M1 Ultra chip. The Mac Studio with M1 Ultra is 80% faster than the fastest MacBook Pro, the company said.
The Mac Studio price starts at US$1,999 (R$22,999 in Brazil) for the version with the M1 Max chip and US$3,999 (R$46,999) for the version equipped with the M1 Ultra processor. Studio Display costs $1,599 (R$17,999)
Apple shares peaked in Tuesday’s session, from about $163 at the start of the product presentation, and then dropped to about $159 after the launch announcement ended. At 16:55 (BrasÃlia time), they were up 0.2%, quoted at US$ 159.60.
The company, which has been expanding its services, said the Apple TV+ streaming service will begin showing Major League Baseball (MLB) games on Friday nights. The game schedule will be available in eight countries.
