The Moon is on the list of most endangered cultural sites.

The World Monuments Fund has released a special list for this year of 25 sites that include everything from historic sites in Gaza to the Moon.

This is the first time in history that an area that… does not exist on Earth is added to the relevant list.

Based on the above, the list of endangered cultural heritage, released on January 15, covers 29 countries on five continents, and one celestial object.

Bénédicte de Montlaur, president and CEO of the WMF, said the moon was included among the 25 sites because of “increasing risks taking place amid accelerated lunar activities,” which, in the WMF’s opinion, “have been done without adequate conservation protocols’.

“While the Moon may seem outside of these issues, it represents an important shared human heritage from its presence in cultural narratives to its role in recent history and faces increasing pressure from private interests,” he added.
