Questions have also been raised for the future of NASA’s SLS rocket, which is the main rocket used to send people to the Moon area for the Artemis. The SLS program has received significant criticisms for its delayed growth and high costs, as it is expected to reach almost $ 24 billion by 2025. So far, SLS has only flown once without passengers and is expected to fly only once or two.

Pace called for changes to the current Artemis plan to make it more consistent and sustainable.

“A revised Artemis campaign plan should be a high priority for the new manager,” Pace said. “There may be some painful adjustments with our industry and international partners, but it is better to do so now than to continue in an unsustainable and non -economically affordable course.”
