An important archaeological discovery that seems to confirm the Scriptures for the place where Jesus was crucified and buried was made by archaeologists in Jerusalem.

Underneath the Temple of the Resurrection they found indications of an ancient garden, with olive trees and vineyards of 2,000 years. As the Independent states, this discovery is believed to reflect the descriptions in the Gospel of John.

“In the place where Jesus was crucified there was a garden and in the garden a new and unused monument, in which no one still had a burial,” says the Gospel of John (19:41).

“The archaeological finds were particularly interesting for us, in the light of what is mentioned in the Gospel of John,” said excavations, Francesca Romana Stasolla, in Times of Israel.

“The Gospel mentions a green area between Golgotha and the tomb, and we found these fields,” he said.

The excavations, which began in 2022, have been cut off for the time being, as the Temple of the Resurrection is preparing to welcome a large number of pilgrims for Easter celebrations.
