Tesla’s Optimus robots will be used to explore the Mars surface, as Elon Musk confirmed today.

The humanoid robots, which were originally presented as home assistants last October, “we hope to be sent to Mars on a SpaceX flight by the end of 2026,” said Trump’s tycoon and CEO of the two companies.

Humanity to Mars has long been one of Musk’s long -term goals and his most profitable company, SpaceX, is vital to NASA’s future but immediate plans to reach the Red Planet.

The use of Tesla Optimus robots, which are two -dimensional and autonomous, shows that Musk further increases his influence on US space exploration, newsweek writes.

Musk has repeatedly said that he wants an unmanned flight to Mars to take place by the end of 2026, but today was the first time a reference to the Tesla robots.

The humanoid robots were presented at the Tesla event in October 2024, as assistants capable of performing domestic work and basic work.

“He’ll do whatever you want,” Musk had said in the past. “It can be a teacher, take care of your children, take your dog ride, cut your lawn, take shopping, just be your friend, serving drinks. Whatever you can think about, he will do it, ”he said.

The robots were already functional at the event, moving and associated with the guests. Now, for the first time, Musk said he intends to include them on a flight to Mars in 2026, writing on social media: “Starship we hope will depart for Mars at the end of next year with Optimus explorers!”
