CCXP creates Oscar-style awards for the best of national pop culture

The Comic Con Experience will reward the main aspects of pop culture in Brazil in a new event entitled CCXP Awards. The award will follow the model of major events such as the Oscars, the Cannes Festival and The Game Awards and will take place on July 14th in São Paulo.

The initiative will honor the best of games, movies, series, books, comics and content creators. In all, there will be six pop culture categories with various subdivisions, totaling 31 awards –3 of them focused on the international stage, and 28 on the national stage–, in addition to three special honors.

“An award that celebrates culture and especially pop culture, and is already born as the biggest award of its kind in Brazil. An award which focuses on the recognition of the production of national content in different categories”, explains Roberto Fabri, vice president of CCXP’s content and brand, in a statement.

“Our expectation is to have entries from all Brazilian states. Brazil is very rich in content from comics, series, movies, books and games. It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, the CCXP Awards believes in the promotion and visibility of national culture “, highlights Fabri.

Applications to compete in the categories will open on May 4th, on the CCXP Awards website, and will run until May 24th. Upon completion, the submitted content will be analyzed by a jury composed of artists, producers, developers, gamers, creators and journalists who are part of the entertainment industry in Brazil.

This Committee of Experts will form a Top 10 for each subcategory and, together with the public, will reach a Top 5 by May 29th. There will be 7 votes in total: that of the category president, those of the 5 expert judges, and the popular vote (counting as 1 vote).

On the following day, May 30, voting begins to define the winner of each category, and the public will again participate in the choice with the jury vote, until July 13 (one day before the awards).

The entire event, with awards, red carpet, tributes and shows, will feature about six hours of content transmission through Omelete’s website and social networks. A big name, which is being kept under wraps due to the closing of a contract, should lead the event.
