Openai announced on Tuesday that it will launch a special experience of a chatgpt with parental control for users under 18, as artificial intelligence is working to strengthen the security measures for adolescents.
When Openai acknowledges that a user is a minor, he will automatically head to a chatgpt experience suitable for his age, which excludes sexual content and can involve law enforcement authorities in rare cases of acute distress, the company said.
Openai also develops a technology for better prediction of a user’s age, but Chatgpt will automatically go to experience for users under 18 in case of uncertainty or incomplete information, CNBC notes.
Startup security updates come after a recent investigation by the Federal Trade Committee on various technology companies, including Openai, about how artificial intelligence chats such as Chatgpt may adversely affect children and adolescents.
The service said he wants to understand the measures these companies have taken to “evaluate the safety of these chatbots when working as partners,” according to a statement.
Openai also shared how Chatgpt will handle “sensitive situations” last month, following a lawsuit by a family accusing Chatbot for the death of their adolescent son with suicide.
“We give priority to security over privacy and freedom of adolescents. This is a new and powerful technology and we believe that minors need significant protection, “wrote Openai’s chief executive Sam Altman in a post on Tuesday.
In August, Openai announced that parental checks would be released to help parents understand and shape how teenagers use Chatgpt. Openai shared more details about these parental checks on Tuesday and announced that they would be available at the end of the month.
The upcoming company control tools will allow parents to connect their Chatgpt account to that of their adolescents by email, to define prohibition hours in which teenagers cannot use Chatbot, manage the features that will be deactivated, guide how the Chatbot is in charge.
Chatgpt is intended for users aged 13 years or older, Openai said.
“These are difficult decisions, but after discussion with experts, this is what we consider better and we want to be transparent in our intentions,” Altman wrote.
