Netflix of … video games is coming – The “battle” of giants for gaming

by

We often write about him “City” of streaming which has erupted in recent years between Netflix and all other claimants (Apple, Amazon, Disney, HBO Max, etc.) fighting in the modern home entertainment environment. Regarding the latter, however, there is another industry with an annual turnover that even significantly exceeds that of the cinema.

Of course we are talking about gaming or otherwise video games, which in their various forms now play young, old and… older. Even these, however, seem to be entering a new era. Until now we knew the classic scheme, where one bought a specific game and enjoyed it alone or online, with other players. And somewhere here comes the Microsoft.

The second most profitable company on the planetwhich – as is well known – is also active in gaming, through the Xbox console has recently launched the Xbox Game Pass, which is basically a Netflix for gaming. With a monthly fee of 12.99 euros (for Greece) the user of the service has access in more than 100 gameswhich are under the “umbrella” of Microsoft.

The answer came recently from the other competitor, Sony that is, which constructs the hugely successful Playstation. Her own Playstation Plus will be a bit more expensive, but it will include at least 700 game titlesmainly from her huge collection of the past.

The most interesting thing, however, is another: This top competition, which threatens to eliminate other hitherto great “players” who are being bought in a row, may prove to be beneficial for the young and ambitious. This is because Microsoft and Sony are visible willing to fund independent game developerswho will in fact have the opportunity to launch their work directly on the glamorous platforms mentioned above.
