by

Berlin is “watching closely” the developments in Greek-Turkish and the relevant statements and “calls for dialogue between the two sides,” said Deputy Government Spokeswoman Christiane Hoffman.

Responding to questions about the growing Turkish provocation in the Aegean and recent statements by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Ms. Hoffman referred to a statement by government spokesman Stephen Hempstreet, who stressed that “co-operation in NATO is particularly important at this time.” and had appealed “to the Turkish president, but also to the Greek prime minister, to find them.”

“I do not have anything to add to what my colleague said. “And it is certainly true – I can say this in general – that we are closely following what is happening there, the statements that are being made, and we can only really appeal, especially within NATO and between Alliance partners, to negotiate with each other.” , said Ms. Hoffman, who, after persistent questions about which of the two leaders the appeal was addressed, limited herself to stating that the government spokesman’s response was valid and had nothing to add to it. “The words need no explanation and are still valid,” he said.

Answering a question about the delivery time of the submarines from Germany to TurkeyEconomy Ministry spokeswoman Anika Einhorn said details of individual armaments programs were not disclosed, adding that the timing of a program approval could be significantly different from its delivery time.
