The 78-year-old pensioner decided to go back to work 40 hours a week so as not to survive.
Maurice Taylor from Peterborough to Cambridge retired from his sales and project management career in 2012.
But like many others in Britain, Morris was concerned about rising costs in the face of energy problems and rising inflation.
So he decided to apply for a job to “prove his existence in the future”, he told the BBC.
He served as a customer service advisor at Addison Lee Call Center, a private taxi and courier company.
Morris joked. “One of the good things is that I pay for the heating in the winter, not mine.”
Edison Lee’s customer service manager, Sang Gera, said it was unreasonable to hire Morris because he had “great experience.”
“It’s about inclusion and diversity,” Sanj said.

Morris was impressed that the company did not ask about his age at any stage of the hiring process.
Retirees also say they look forward to meeting colleagues and interacting with new people.
He urged other money-conscious retirees to think about finding a job.
“Anybody can do it if I can do it,” Morris said.
This is after Rishi Sunak announced new financial assistance to his British family last week.
All families receive 400,400 taxes, retirees receive 300,300 in a lump sum to pay for energy costs, and people who receive multiple benefits receive additional support.
