After a special Platinum Jubilee ceremony alongside the Queen, members of the royal family gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and may notice a little-known face among Cambridge, Princess Anne and Prince Charles. ..

One of them was Prince Edward from the Duke of Kent.

In fact, the Duke replaced Prince Philip on the balcony. The balcony was next to Queen Elizabeth II in official military uniform before the official flight and before the family joined.

If you don’t know Prince Edward, here’s everything you need to know about one of Sovereign’s closest relationships.

Who is the Duke of Kent?

Prince Edward is the son of the Duke of Kent, Prince George and Princess Marina.

He became Duke of Kent at the age of seven and inherited the title after his father died in a plane crash in 1942.

The royal website says: “The Duke of Kent is involved in over 140 charities, organizations and professional organizations covering a wide range of topics, including mourning war victims and promoting British technology and industry. .

“Her Highness works hard every year to support these organisations, both in the UK and in the Commonwealth.

How is the Duke of Kent related to the Queen?

It is confusing that the Duke of Kent and the Queen are connected in two ways.

Not only are his parents brothers and the Duke and Queen are first cousins, but his royal relatives are also relatives of Princess Marina, Prince Edward’s mother.

Marina, who held the title of princess of Greece and Denmark before marrying the Duchess of Kent, was a first cousin of the late Duke of Edinburgh and became a cousin of Prince Philip.

Duke is the second cousin and brother who was once transferred to the future King, Prince Charles.
