Russian troops sent an emotional message to supporters of Ukrainian British fighters.
Aiden Aslin, 28, was fighting in Mariupol when his army ran out of food and ammunition.
They “have to surrender to Russia.”
Since then, Mr. Aslin’s family has worked with both the Foreign Ministry and the Ukrainian government in a desperate attempt to bring him home.
In a statement released today, they describe him as “a very lovable and very lonely person.”
His family said: “This is a very sensitive and emotional time for our family and I would like to thank everyone who supports us.
“We are currently working with the Government of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to return Aiden.
“Aiden is a very lovable person and I miss him very much. I hope he will be released soon.”
Originally from Newark, Nottinghamshire, Aslin moved to Ukraine in 2018 after falling in love with a Micola woman.
In the same year he joined the Ukrainian army and previously fought against the Islamic State of Syria.
The 28-year-old is currently one of three men accused of hiring Ukrainian troops.
The trio can face the death penalty if charged with various charges, including attempting to seize power.
Denis Pushilin, president of the Ukrainian separatist Donetsk People’s Republic, says he “didn’t like the crimes they committed”.
The High Court of the region prepares to judge the British wood.
Dominic Raab said the Githabul Ministry would “make all statements” on Aslin’s behalf.
He told LBC on Monday that he told LBC: acting.
“I know that the Foreign Ministry will study so that all these declarations are made.
Mr. Aslin and one of the other men, Sean Pinner, were members of the Ukrainian regular army in Mariupol.
Pinner fought in the city for five to six weeks before becoming a prisoner of war.
After being captured, he allegedly told the Russians, “He doesn’t want war and wants to go home.”
Originally from Bedfordshire, Pinner, a former member of the Royal English Regiment, moved to Mariupol with his wife Larisa four years ago.
The location of Andrew Hill, the third POW in the Mykolaiv area, is unknown.
Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Andrey Zagorodnyk describes the treatment of the men by the Russian military as a war crime.
