The mysterious disappearance of 23-year-old TiJae Baker, who on May 1 took a train from New York to Washington after contacting the Internet for work and never returned home, is causing great interest among Americans.

Her mother, Toquanna Baker, is desperately trying to find her, especially after her daughter’s June 1 phone call in which her daughter begged her to save her. Toquanna Baker told ABC News that her daughter’s disappearance may be linked to a human trafficking plot.

23-year-old TiJae is an up-and-coming artist in Brooklyn and a final year college student. The 23-year-old traveled to Washington to make posters for a woman she met online, according to her mother.

Toquanna Baker said her daughter had landed at Washington Union Station and was due to return the next day. When she did not, her mother reported her to the New York Police Department a few days later.

According to the ABCnews report, after a few weeks of silence, TiJae Baker called home on June 1 and asked her mother to save her.

Toquanna Baker immediately traveled to the area, but has not yet found her daughter. He has not spoken to her since.

She said she was scared for her daughter, saying the disappearance did not attract much attention because TiJae is an African-American woman.

“I have not slept at all,” Toquanna Baker told WABC.

The New York police released the details of the girl, asking anyone who has information about her disappearance or where she is to call the relevant phones.
