See winning caption for British royal family photo

by

In yet another subtitles contest, readers of Sheet sent hundreds of suggestions for phrases that sought to translate, with good humor and in a creative way, a photo of the British royal family during the Platinum Jubilee, an event that marks the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

The record was made on Thursday (2) and gained the internet and pages of newspapers around the world, mainly due to the grimace displayed by Prince Louis, 4, great-grandson of the Queen and youngest son of Prince William with wife Kate. Middleton.

In the photo, he appears covering his ears and appearing to scream during a British Air Force presentation. Beside him, his mother and two brothers — Princess Charlotte and Prince George — also laugh and seem to be enjoying themselves. The queen, dressed in blue and holding a cane, smiles discreetly.

After going through an internal selection, seven alternative subtitles remained, open to the public in a poll held on June 7 and 8, which received a total of 589 votes.

With 285 votes, the winning caption was:

You can scream! I will stay another hundred years.

Following the ranking we have:

  • “Your Majesty, rest assured! At the next Jubilee I will leave him at home…”, 81 votes (Roberto Benelli, 75, Florence, Italy)
  • “BISAAAAA! I want to go home.”, 69 votes (Maria José dos Santos, 77, Sorocaba, SP)
  • “No, not again! That way, our turn will never come!”, 54 votes ( Claudia, 28, São José do Rio Preto, SP)
