Biden: We had warned of Putin’s invasion but Zelensky did not want to hear

by

President Biden, referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, said nothing like this had happened since World War II.

The United States – based on intelligence sources – had warned Zelensky that Putin would invade Ukraine and he did not want to listen, said US President Joe Biden at a Democratic rally in Los Angeles.

President Biden, referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, said nothing like this had happened since World War II.

“I know a lot of people thought I was exaggerating, but we had the evidence that Vladimir Putin was going to invade the neighboring country,” Biden said.

He noted that Zelensky undoubtedly did not want to hear it, and many others did not want to hear it, but Putin did.

Responding, the Ukrainian president’s spokesman said that Zelensky had called for precautionary sanctions against Russia before the large-scale invasion, but that Ukraine’s partners “did not want to listen.”

As he mentioned, therefore, the phrase “he did not want to hear” probably needs clarification.
