North Korea is feared to be about to conduct its first full nuclear test since 2017.

South Korea’s foreign minister says the rogue nation is ripe for a nuclear explosion in a remote part of the country.

This is the seventh time North Korea has done it, but it is the first time since Kim Jong Un ordered the program suspended to allow talks with the United States.

The failure of the negotiations launched by then-President Donald Trump has been unclear since Joe Biden entered the White House, urging North Korea to strengthen its weapons program.

Even as a wave of covid-19 hit a poor country and infected millions of people, the return to aggressive testing continued.

His military has launched several ballistic weapons in recent months, but has stopped short of a thermonuclear blast.

Intelligence agencies in Seoul and Washington fear this will change and are watching for signs of a Kim nuclear explosion.

South Korean Foreign Minister Park Geun-hye said she would pay the price if North Korea continued after meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington.

He told reporters: “I think North Korea is ready for the next nuclear test and only political decisions need to be made.

“If North Korea conducts another nuclear test, I think it will only strengthen our containment and international sanctions. North Korea needs to change its mind and make the right decision.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said military assets may be redeployed accordingly with troops from South Korea and Japan.

He states, “We work closely with others to prepare for all contingencies and stand ready to make short-term and long-term adjustments to our military posture.”

They said the door to talks remained open, but the allies accused Pyongyang of walking out of the talks.

On Sunday, North Korea tested projectiles at sea.

Its long-range weapon is only 25-30 miles from the densely populated area of South Korea, near the northern border.

Signs of activity were seen at the Punggye-ri site, the site of the last nuclear test that was closed in 2018.
