The British doctor, who was suffering from motor neurone disease in its final stage, left calm and surrounded by his family, as described by the Daily Mail.
He hoped to “become a full-fledged human robot”, the media writes, summarizing how Morgan decided to question what it means to be human when he refused to accept his fate after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2017.
He said that he wanted to go beyond the limits of what science can achieve and so he decided to extend his life and become fully robotic assisted.
His family confirmed the news of his death on his Twitter account this morning.
“To the Stunning Supporters of Peter’s Revolutionary Achievement: With a broken heart we inform you all that he died peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones,” they wrote.
“He was incredibly proud of all of you who supported him and of his vision to change the way people see disability,” they said.
