The resignation of his position Independent Adviser to the British Prime Minister on ministerial interests, that is, in essence on matters of ethical and ministerial conduct, submitted by Lord Gidd.

The independent consultant had criticized him Boris Johnson because in the research he had conducted on partygate had not received from the Prime Minister all the details that were revealed later.

Most recently last week, Lord Gidd revealed that he had considered resigning following Mr Johnson’s reaction to imposition of a fine against him by the Metropolitan Police for his presence at one of the government parties amid a lockdown.

He had also said before a parliamentary committee that he was “irritated” by how all these parties were allowed to take place on Downing Street.

The resignation brings to the fore the behavior of Prime Minister Johnson.

This is the second resignation of an independent moral adviser to the British Prime Minister during his less than three years in office. Sir Alex Allan resigned in 2020 after Mr Johnson refused to accept an investigation into allegations that Secretary of State Pretty Patel was bullying government officials at her ministry.
