A third American is missing in Ukraine – The US message to Russia

Washington has not yet contacted Moscow on the matter.

The USA announced yesterday Thursday that they have information according to which one A third American citizen is missing in Ukrainewhile adding that still have not contacted Russia for the fate of the two Americans considered are being held captive after they went to Ukraine to fight against Russian forces.

“We have not yet reported the matter to the Russian Federation (…). We have not seen anything from the Russians that indicates that these two people are in their hands.” said o Ned Price, State Department spokesman characterizing the information about the two men as unconfirmed.

THE Alexander Droueke, 39, and Andy Tai Nokhai, 27, originating from the state Alabamawent voluntarily to Ukraine to fight against the Russian army. They have been missing for more than a week and there are fears that they are being held captive, as stated by their family members and American parliamentarians.

The U.S. military says the two men have served in the ranks in the past, but gave no further details on their whereabouts.

The White House has announced that “Works very hard to learn more” for both men.

“There are reports of another American whose fate is unknown (…) As far as we know this man traveled to Ukraine to fight.” Price added, explaining that the third American has been missing for a few weeks.

The US also called on Russia to Consider Any American Volunteer Fighter Arrested in Ukraine Prisoner of War and ensure the appropriate treatment.

“The Russians have some obligations and members of the Ukrainian armed forces, including volunteers who may be from third countries and have joined the armed forces, should be treated as prisoners of war under the Geneva Conventions.” Price stressed.

Prisoners of war must “Have the treatment and protection provided by their status”, he added.

The Geneva Conventions define the rights of prisoners of war in particular prohibit torture and ensure their access to medical care.
