Lemmer admitted that the government could “do better” in terms of protecting purchasing power and stressed that “now it must act faster.”
The Minister of Finance of France, Bruno Lemer, said on the TV channel France 2 that the results of the parliamentary elections are a “democratic shock”, but he considers unfounded the fear that the country will remain ungovernable.
Lemmer noted that the president’s faction Emanuel Macron remains the largest in parliament, adding that it is vital to reach out to other political opponents who share the same ideas.
The first results, which give the presidential faction only a relative majority, do not make France ungovernable“But the situation is unprecedented,” he said.
Lemmer admitted that the government could “do better” in terms of protecting purchasing power and stressed that “now it must act faster.”
Everything will depend on the “sense of responsibility” of other political parties, the minister said, calling on all those who call themselves pro-Europeans and are concerned about environmental protection to help the government.
The issues of security, Europe and climate change will determine who the presidential faction will approach to form a majority, he explained.
