Brazilian police are searching for five other people who they believe helped hide the bodies of British journalist Dom Phillips and local expert Bruno Mendes.
Three men suspected of killing a couple in the Amazon jungle have already been arrested.
The incident sparked international anger and praised the duo and their efforts on environmental and regional issues.
Brazilian federal police said Sunday that five other suspects helped hide the bodies of Phillips and his friend Pereira, who worked for The Guardian.
Police did not name a new suspect, adding in a brief statement that the ongoing investigation was aimed at “clarifying all the circumstances, motivations and persons involved in the case.”
Police previously said the fisherman was Amarildo and Costa Riuler confessed to the murder.
His brothers Ossen and Costa, as well as his third men, Jefferson and Sylvalima, were also arrested.
The search team finally found the body after being told where it was.
Freelance reporter Phillips, 57, was studying the book with the help of Pereira, 41, who had recently contacted the Funai Federal Office of Residents and the isolated tribe.
The couple first disappeared on June 5, after traveling together by boat through the Java Valley, a remote area adjacent to Peru and Colombia.
Both were shot with hunting ammunition and were found in remote areas of the rainforest, police said.
Phillips’ family said they were “grieving” over what happened.
In a statement issued after the body was found, her husband, Alessandra Sampaio, added:
“Today we begin to seek justice. We hope that the investigation will exhaust all possibilities and provide the final answer to all relevant details as soon as possible.
