Did Aeolus’ bag open? US Supreme Judge Challenges Legalization of Contraception and Homosexuality

Did Aeolus’ bag open? After the right to abortion the judge Clarence Thomas, one in five who voted in the historic 1973 decision also challenged the legitimacy of contraception and gay marriage!

Today’s ruling by the Supreme Court annulling the right to abortion has rekindled fears about fate and other rights in the United States, such as same-sex marriage, as evidenced by the Conservative judge’s argument.

“In future matters of privacy, ‘we should also reconsider all the case law,'” Clarence Thomas wrote in his personal comments accompanying the decision.

It is remarkable that Thomas refers specifically to three judgments: the 1965 Griswald v. Connecticut law on contraception; the 2003 Lawrence v. Texas Act, which makes unconstitutional laws criminalizing sex “Obergefel vs. Hodges”, 2015, which guarantees marriage for all. This latest decision is the main target of the religious right in the US.

According to Clarence Thomas, these case law is based on the same article of the Constitution as the one that until now protected the right to abortion. The court “has a duty to correct the mistake” introduced by their adoption, he added.

It should also be analyzed whether other articles of the Constitution “protect the myriad rights” that were “produced” in this way, according to the judge.

However, at present this is the view of only one of the nine judges and there is no indication that he will succeed. to impose it on others.

Today’s decision, which was approved by a vote of 5 to 4, clearly states that “it should not be interpreted as challenging case law not related to abortion”. Conservative Judge Brett Cavanaugh, in his own argument, emphasizes that the questioning of the right to abortion “does not threaten” other rights.

Clarence Thomas was appointed to the Supreme Court by President George W. Bush Sr. in 1991.
