Its director, Lenny Emson, said at a press conference:

“Our message is to support Ukraine, stand in solidarity and support our efforts to end this war.

Poland, which has proven to be one of Kyiv’s strongest allies, today has more than 11 LGBT+ organizations from all over Ukraine.

The Warsaw government was at the forefront of Ukraine’s arms and support efforts, and families across the country opened their homes to the refugees.

Lenny Emson added: “I am grateful that the pride of Warsaw was able to march, but it is very painful that our city is on the verge of bombing.

“We cannot march there, we are in a state of war, so we cannot march in our country.

“This is a big problem for our society. Most of our society is stuck in Ukraine because the passport contains the gender marker ‘male’, including transgender people.

“They are with us and we are with them, and today we are going for them.”

Massive security efforts are underway around the Warsaw Pride March venue, with protests and violence by nationalist groups a regular feature of LGBTQ+ activities in Poland.
