Vladimir Putin warned the former head of the CIA branch in Moscow that he could have been “hit in the head” due to the war in Ukraine.
The Russian president’s power over Kremlin officials is no longer absolute, and a secret plot is said to be afoot to oust him.
Former spy Daniel Hoffman said Putin’s adviser would try to get rid of him as soon as he was dissatisfied with how the invasion was proceeding.
“These people who are trying to do this will be so secretive that they have yet to be found or killed by Putin,” Hoffman told The Daily Beast.
It happens suddenly. And he will die. No one is going to ask, “Mr. Vladimir, are you leaving?”
‘Nope. They hit him on the back with a hammer and he died. Or it’s time to go to the sanatorium. They ask for it. This is what they do.
According to Hoffman, three key figures to watch are Putin’s Security Council Chairman Nikolai Patrushev, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Former Soviet leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Mikhail Gorbachev have been fired, leaving policy experts wondering if Russia will revive the old tradition.
“They either died in the office or someone knocked on the door and said, ‘Vladivostok Vladivostok, I think it’s time to go.’ You’ll love the dachshund,” said former CIA agent Ronald Marks.
According to the head of the Ukrainian military spy Kirilo Budanov, this happened after it was revealed that the leader survived an assassination attempt at the beginning of his invasion.
Speculation about Putin’s political future has increased since his failed war entered its fourth month.
Russia is heading to the next elections in 2024, so “results” may happen, especially if the economy is in great difficulty.
The 69-year-old’s mental and physical health has also been the subject of much controversy over the mysterious report (unconfirmed by the Kremlin) that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Parkinson’s disease.
Earlier this month, Putin delivered a speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on the state of the Russian economy and financial sector.
According to the anti-Russian telegram channel General SVR, the main purpose of his participation is to show that he is “healthy”.
The post, published on June 17, reads:
“The president himself says he feels good and is ready to attend the event.”
