An eight-year-old boy who disappeared for a week was found alive in the sewer.

Joe (whose name has not yet been announced to authorities) disappeared in Germany on June 17.

Officials across the country have launched a large-scale search involving local hunting associations and volunteers.

On Saturday, a 43-year-old community member heard a “quiet wail” from the sewer and reported it to police.

An ambulance arrived at the scene and removed the well at the sewer entrance.

Joe knelt in the water and looked at them weakly.

Before the baby was taken to the hospital, firefighters climbed up the culvert to get the boy out safely.

Witnesses told local media: “The attendant calmed him down seeing how carefully the child was taken out.

-He seemed harmless. I don’t think he was there and alive! “

He was said to be hypothermic, but reacts when he is drained from the sewer.

According to the police, he is not seriously injured or life threatening.

Officers are still investigating that Joe, who is reportedly suffering from mild mental illness, may have survived the storm for a long time.

Local media reports that former ambulance doctor Peter Seflin, 81, said:

But the channel is naturally cool. A person can survive for three days without food or water. No problem.

He added: “We know that the people buried in the cave survived the condensed water droplets. Maybe it was the same here.”

Police chief Johann Quem added: “Thanks to the public advice, I was able to find Joe in the sewer today.

“The most important thing is that he is alive and immediately taken to the hospital, where he is at hand. We can all breathe a sigh of relief.”
