The decision comes after the imposition of the party ban measure temporarily due to the spread of the coronavirus
Airbnb has decided to ban parties and events in homes available for short-term rental on its platform.
The decision comes after the measure was imposed on a temporary basis, as it had been taken due to the coronary pandemic.
The company stresses that the new regulation has become “much more than a public health measure” since it was introduced in August 2020.
“It has evolved into a basic policy to support our hosts and their neighbors,” he explained.
Airbnb said in a statement that complaints about the party had fallen by 44% since the measure was first introduced.
Exceptions to this global ban may be made in the future for “specialized and traditional accommodation”.
At the same time, he states that the limit on the number of people allowed to be accommodated in a house is removed.
The company recently imposed a limit of 16 people due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, now stating that “various types of larger homes can comfortably and safely accommodate more than 16 people – from castles in Europe to vineyards in the US to large beach villas in Caribbean “.
“The abolition of this ceiling is intended to allow hosts to use the space in their homes responsibly, while complying with our ban on annoying parties,” he noted.
The company began imposing restrictions in 2019, banning “open invitation” parties and so-called “chronic party houses” that bothered neighbors.
During the pandemic, the company enforced a ban on parties “for public health reasons”.
Like other areas of the tourism industry, Airbnb was initially hit hard by the pandemic.
Then there was an increase in demand for housing.
More specifically, in the first three months of this year, Airbnb recorded revenue of $ 1.5 billion, an increase of 70% compared to the previous year.
In May, the company introduced a major overhaul of the features it offers, including the introduction of new ways to search for housing through specific categories, further facilitating bookings for longer stays amid increased distance working.
