“Napalm Girl” completes treatment 50 years after Vietnam War

It took 50 years for Kim Phuc Phan Thi, the then nine-year-old girl in shocking photography – a symbol of the Vietnam War – to complete her cycle of healing for the wounds caused by the Napalm bombing.

The girl from Napalm, the nine-year-old who was depicted in a shocking frame running naked while screaming in pain, became the symbol of the Vietnam War, a middle-aged woman now undergoing her last dermatological treatment, 50 years after the American bombing that would change her life forever.

In 1972, Associated Press photojournalist Nick Hut captured the moment nine-year-old Kim Phuc Phan Thi was seen running down a street, with her body burned and naked after her clothes caught fire after being hit by a napalm.

The photo won the Pulinger Award.

Phan Thi, who went down in history as the “Girl of Napalm” now 59 years old, the lady completed the cycle of skin treatments after decades of pain and large scars on her torso.

Her injuries were so severe that doctors believed she would not survive, but after more than a year of treatment, her condition stabilized.

She eventually recovered from her injuries and lived in Vietnam until 1992 before moving to Canada with her husband, where she still lives.

However, he continued to suffer from pain and began specialized treatments with Dr. Jill Zwaibel in Miami several years ago.

In fact, the doctor undertook her treatment for free.
