In a report on the Russian army’s “attack” on the refinery area, about 7 kilometers from the center of Lisichansk, the Ukrainian General Staff said it was partially successful.

The Russian troops “carried out an attack on areas in the northeastern part of the Lisichansk refinery, in the community of Topolivka and in the northern part of the communities of Vovtsoyarivka and Malorezanchevo,” he said.

Lisichansk is the last city which remains in the hands of Ukrainian troops in the Luhansk region, in the Donbas basin, as is known in eastern Ukraine, which Moscow is trying to bring under its control.

“In the neighboring region of Danieck, Russian advance attempts near Sloviansk and Bakhmut were repulsed,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement, noting that Ukrainian positions along the front were being pounded by Russian artillery and air force.
