Hundreds of people are expected to quietly “go home” to the Zara Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The 35-year-old law graduate was just minutes from his front door when he was attacked on June 26 on Cranbrook Road in Ilford, east London.
On Saturday, nearly a week after his death, Arena’s family took precautions to comfort loved ones in his bereaved family and highlight the prevalence of male violence against women and girls.
Arena’s aunt told the media on Friday that her niece was in her community, a familiar area where she felt safe when she was attacked.
Fara Naz said the family decided to “change something” and force British political leaders to act “now to prevent violence.”
She said: “(My niece) was not ignorant of the fact that women were affected. It’s not about keeping the streets safe, it’s about changing the way we think.”
Crying, Naz added, “I’ll never get over this, but this (walking) will help.”

The surveillance takes the form of a leisurely stroll emphasizing the route Arena took, but was never able to “return safely to where she belonged.”
People on the walk gather at 1:30pm in front of Cranbrook Rise in Cranbrook Rise, Ilford, and walk at 2:17pm on the morning of June 26, when Arena was attacked.
Her family asked attendees to dress in white and remain “calm and sad” as they “went home with Zara in their hearts.”
In anticipation of Arena’s silent surveillance, women use the hashtag #SafelyHomeInOurShoes to share photos of their shoes on social media.
The prosecution said he was returning home after a night out when he was dragged, kicked and beaten.
An autopsy revealed that he had multiple serious injuries.
Jordan Maxweeney, 29, from Dagenham, east London, appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday after being charged with attempted murder, attempted rape and robbery.
There was no allegation and he was jailed.
