Typhoon Chaba is China’s first typhoon this year and forecasters have predicted it will bring record rainfall and a high risk of natural disasters. The center’s chief meteorologist Gao Shuanzhu said there was a chance the storm would break the cumulative rainfall record as it moves the monsoon belt inland.

“Abundant monsoonal water vapor will lead to heavy rainfall and massive cumulative rainfall of an extreme nature”he emphasized.
