Boris Johnson has written to Nicola Sturgeon to formally reject the second referendum.

SNP has proposed a new vote next October.

In a letter dated today, Johnson wrote that he “does not agree” with the referendum.

He added that he had “carefully considered” the proposal to transfer power, but concluded that the two countries should “cooperate as partners.”

Johnson said: “As we face unprecedented challenges at home and abroad, we can no longer agree that it is time to return to the questions that the Scottish people clearly answered in 2014.

“Our common priority is to effectively tackle global cost of living challenges, help the NHS and public services recover from the Covid-19 pandemic turmoil and play a leading role in the international response. When delivered, It must be to support them.” Russian invasion in Ukraine.

“These are common challenges across the UK and deserve our full attention.

Sturgeon said refusing to give the Scottish Parliament the right to vote could be one of Johnson’s last actions as prime minister.

The Prime Minister wrote: “I have just received this from Johnson (is this one of his last actions as Prime Minister?).

“For clarity, Scotland has the opportunity to choose independence, preferably through a referendum on October 19, 2023, otherwise through a general election. Scotland’s democracy is for this First Minister and this First Minister. They won’t catch you.

Scottish Green Party MSP Gillian Mackay said the letter was “another slap in the face to the Scottish people who have repeatedly sent an independent majority to Holyrood and Westminster”.

“People will not continue to be held hostage by the least popular prime minister in history,” he said.

We guarantee that the future of Scotland is firmly in the hands of the people who live here.

But Labor claims that Britain under Johnson and Scotland under the sturgeon are “two sides of the same coin”.

Constitutional spokeswoman Sarah Boyack said:

Boris Johnson and Nicola Sturgeon are the obverse and reverse of the same coin.

“Neither the Tories nor the SNPs are focused on addressing life crises or restoring services from pandemics, both of which harm the future of the delegation.

Ms. Sturgeon announced on June 28 that she will send the latest information on the second independence vote in writing to the Prime Minister.

The prime minister added that he has revealed that he is “ready and on track” to negotiate the terms of Order 30 with Johnson.

If passed, Holyrood will be empowered to hold another referendum.

Former Prime Minister David Cameron agreed to a request for Order 30, which would lead to a temporary delegation of authority to hold the referendum before the 2014 referendum.

In the referendum the “no” vote won, 55.3% supported independence and 44.7% supported it.

Many speculated that Johnson would resign tonight due to the high number of resignations.

He experienced more resignations than any prime minister in history after the Christopher Pincher scandal caused a brutal mass spill compared to “rats fleeing sunken ships”.

Since Tuesday night, some 40 ministers and advisers have left, including two ministers, 15 ministers, 17 parliamentary secretaries, three trade representatives and a vice president.

However, Conservative leaders said leaving the number 10 was not “responsible” given the challenges facing the country.
