Britain: Labor are pushing for an election – They are filing a motion of censure

by

Asked if he was pushing for a motion of no confidence next week to trigger an election, the Labor leader said yes

The Labor leader said today he will move to call a national election, moving to a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Boris Johnson next week unless Conservative MPs act to oust him sooner.

THE Johnson he said he would stand down when a new Tory leader was chosen. Further details of the timetable will be set out next week by the Conservative Party’s 1922 Committee.

Asked if he was pushing for a motion of no confidence next week to trigger an election, Mr Keir Starmer he answered “yes” and said Tory MPs should remove Johnson now rather than wait for the next leader.

“The onus is on the Conservative Party to do the right thing, and obviously there are meetings early next week with the 1922 Commission. So it’s on them to do the right thing,” Starmer told a news conference.

“If they don’t, we will proceed with a motion of censure” he concluded.
