US Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, 71, has been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 and is showing “very mild symptoms” of the infection caused by the new coronavirus, his spokesman announced Sunday.

The Senate – evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, with the vice president having the deciding vote in critical proceedings if necessary – resumes today after a two-week recess.
