Germany has taken in around 800,000 refugees from Ukraine. 30% of them are under 14 years of age
The German government distributed others 2.4 billion euros to cover this year’s costs of offering aid to the refugees from Ukraine that the country has taken in, Labor Minister Hubertus Heil told the RND media group.
According to Mr. Heil, the Germany has hosted around 800,000 refugees from Ukraine. 30% of them are under 14 years of age.
Last month, Germany’s employment agency recorded a rise in the unemployment rate, attributed to Ukrainian refugees joining its lists seeking work.
They have been registered in the welfare system until today 360,000 citizens of Ukraine, of which 260,000 are seeking workaccording to Mr. Heil.
“The point now is for them to get a job,” he added.
More than 9 million people have fled Ukraine since Russia’s military invasion of the neighboring country began on February 24, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced Wednesday.
