Parents surrounded and worked on an armed suspect who was allegedly “throwing a meatball” out of the elementary school.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the children were in the classroom and the parents were in the hallway while officers were present on the scene yesterday at 3:10 p.m.
Parents from nearby Tillsley Primary School were asked to round up children for a police incident.
According to witnesses, the man was on his way to St. George Elementary School with a “butcher knife” before his parents and bystanders knocked him to the ground.

“My husband, who works at home, said he was going to walk upstairs to school with a butcher knife, so I called the police and talked to them until they came here. I told the Manchester Evening News.
Parents praised the school’s teachers, saying they acted “very quickly” to get everyone into the school’s assembly hall.
“Three guys tried to calm him down, but he was really excited and moved on, seeing seven guys doing what he was doing, one of which was actually him. He was lying on the floor,” he added.
“It would be terrible if I had one of them.”
A parent who heard the man “scream” said: “When we picked up our son, we were taken out into the hallway and the children were in the classroom. We were there for about an hour…
The parents who knocked the suspect to the ground were hailed as “heroes,” with the other parents immediately appreciating their actions in catching the man.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said:
