A crime with a young male perpetrator and victims of five members of his own family shocks France.
The 20-year-old attacker was holding his father, stepmother and three siblings hostage last night in a residence in the commune of Douvres, in eastern France.
Local media reported that the man had been “locked in the house” with his family since about 11.30pm last night.
Police negotiators are said to have been at the scene overnight and cordoned off the area, before “futilely attempting to remain in contact with the suspect throughout the night”.
The man, in possession of a gun and a large katana, began to spread death.
Both his father and stepmother were killed, as well as his 17-year-old sister, his 15-year-old half-brother and his only 5-year-old half-sister.
Armed police later stormed the house and killed him, but it was too late.
