Turkey, Russia, Ukraine sign the grain export agreement tomorrow

Russia, Ukraine and Turkey will sign a UN-proposed deal tomorrow to resume grain exports from besieged Ukrainian Black Sea ports, the Turkish president’s office announced tonight. Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The United Nations secretary general, who announced earlier that he will go to Istanbul tonight, will attend the ceremony to be hosted at the Dolmabahçe Palace, at 16:30 (Greece time), with Erdogan, according to the announcement. Representatives of Russia and Ukraine will also be present.

Earlier, a member of the Ukrainian delegation reported that exports may resume from three ports, those of Odessa, Pivdeni and Chornomorsk. “We hope that in the future we will be able to expand” deliveries from other ports as well, Ukrainian lawmaker Rustem Umerov told reporters.

According to this source, the security of the convoys will be taken over by a surveillance team UN which will be based in Istanbul. Russian ships will not have the right to enter Ukrainian territorial waters. “We don’t trust them, even if they sign an agreement with the UN,” he added.

Almost 25 million tons of cereals and grains remain blocked in Ukrainian ports.
