A man died in front of a friend after the pool collapsed within seconds and a hole opened up under it.

When the water subsided yesterday in Karmei Joseph, Israel, the unidentified victims were swept into the water.

Another man, a 34-year-old man, narrowly escaped and had to be treated by emergency medical personnel for a lower body injury.

Video from the scene showed swimmers attending a private work party clinging to the side of the pool as the sinkhole swallowed everything, including their inflatable underwear.

The woman who saw the hole tried to pull her friend out of the pool. But it was too late.
