The Turkish police arrested ten suspects yesterday Friday in Istanbul for participation in the jihadist organization Islamic State (ISIS), according to the DHA agency.

Men of the special police forces carried out, in the morning hours of Friday, raids in various parts of Istanbul. During the operation, ten people were arrested and operational documents and digital material were seized, which is estimated to lead to the revelation of ISIS nuclei in the wider region.

The arrested are active members of the Islamic State and it is estimated that they were preparing an attack in Turkey, DHA reported.

In recent months, Turkey has intensified its efforts to locate and dismantle ISIS cores. Since the beginning of the year, 13 “would-be bombers” have been arrested thanks to information from documents seized in police operations, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said in June. It had also claimed to have prevented 82 terrorist attacks since the start of the year.
