Three dead, including the alleged attacker, are the toll of the attack that caused alarm in the town of Langley, near Vancouver, according to Canadian police.
Around 06:15 (local time), authorities sent an emergency message to residents’ cellphones, describing the alleged attacker as a Caucasian man with dark hair, who was wearing brown overalls and a blue-green T-shirt with a red logo on the right sleeve.

A second alert was sent to residents’ cell phones, stating the suspect was “no longer a threat.” The alleged perpetrator of the attack was shot dead by the police.
The motive for the attack remains unclear for now, according to a police representative.
Gun attacks are not as common in Canada as in the neighboring United States. One of Canada’s worst bloodbaths in recent years took place in 2020, when a gunman driving a fake police car killed 22 people in Portapeak, Nova Scotia.
