The woman accused of shooting at the Dallas airport had a long history of clashing with police, telling them she was the wife of rapper Chris Brown and a “prophet of God.”
Portia Odufuwa, 37, reportedly pointed her gun at the roof of Dallas Love Field airport and fired near the ticket counter. He was shot by police and is currently hospitalized.
According to court records obtained by the Dallas Morning News, Odufwa has been arrested multiple times in recent years, but most charges were dropped because judges ruled he cannot stand trial.
Odufuwa was charged with robbing a bank on April 5, 2019, in Wylie, Texas.
According to media reports, Odufwa entered Bank of America and demanded money. The client evacuated the building and police arrested Oduhuwa as he was leaving the scene.
It was deemed inappropriate in court and the proceedings were dismissed. Odufuwa has been receiving inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment since the allegations.
In October 2019, Odufwa was arrested again and charged with arson.
When the authorities arrived, Odufwa was watching the house burn. He asked to speak to a police officer and then said that he was “responsible for the fire.”
According to the arrest warrant, Odufwa told police: “I am a prophet of God and I need a lawyer, but I am basically letting everyone know that I am the cause of this fire.”
He also told police that he used to live at her house but moved out because “he had never had burnout.”
Odufuwa refused to provide detailed information to the arrested police officer until she spoke with R&B singer Chris Brown and the identified husband.
The case was ultimately closed due to a lack of scientific evidence, District Attorney John Crusotto told The Dallas Morning News.
On April 25, 2021, Odufwa was arrested again at a hotel in Mesquite, Texas, and charged with setting off a fire alarm. Hotel employees told police they were upset after the hotel refused to extend their stay.
When asked for his home address by police, Odufwa gave them the address of Chris Brown’s mansion in Los Angeles.
Odufuwa’s proceedings were dismissed by Judge Christine Wade in June 2021. She found that he was unable to go to trial and sent him to an outpatient mental health service.
