Authorities have executed twice as many people so far this year compared to last year.
Human rights groups say Iran also executes more women than any other country, the majority of whom are believed to have been found guilty of murdering their husbands.
On Wednesday, the Iran Human Rights Group reported that former bride Soheila Abadi was hanged in prison after being convicted of murdering her husband after marrying him 10 years ago when she was 15.
The court was quoted as saying that the motive for the killing was ‘family disputes’
Activists say many of the cases involve allegations of domestic violence, but that Iranian courts often ignore them.
Accurate data on the number of executions is not available, as the Iranian authorities do not officially announce every case in which the death penalty has been imposed.
