Hundreds of travelers remained trapped in carriages or waiting at stations not knowing when they would finally be able to reach their destination.
Thalys high-speed trains were disrupted for several hours today after a high-speed train collided with an animal in Belgium, the rail company said.

Hundreds of travelers remained trapped in carriages or waiting at stations not knowing when they would finally be able to reach their destination.
The accident occurred at 15:55 (local time) near the western Belgian city of Tournai when “an animal was hit by a train that had departed from Brussels,” a Thalys spokesman told AFP. The impact caused engine damage and the superspeedster was brought to a standstill, he explained.
The passengers of this train were removed after two hours and returned by buses to the Belgian capital.
At Paris’ Gare du Nord train station, hundreds of travelers waited for hours before finally learning that two of the three scheduled Thalys services had been cancelled.
“It’s a hassle. We had to travel by train at 18:25 and people have been waiting for three hours,” said 65-year-old Ghislaine Flamang, complaining about the lack of information from those in charge.
Alicia, a 23-year-old Mexican woman appeared cooler. “I’m in no rush, it’s not human error. Once the issue is resolved, everything will be fine.”
