A pair of “real” superheroes accidentally save the lives of three children at the start of a standard workday.
Binman Nick Gardner and Mark Hewitt found a boy poking his head out of a window on the streets of Ilford in Essex on Monday as smoke billowed from his home.
Nick yelled at the young man to stay where he could get some fresh air as he ran for the ladder, disregarding his safety, and Mark ran for the other two boys. I bravely knocked on the front door so I could do it.
Young adults were also able to exit through the back door.
Workers called 999 and firefighters quickly put out the fire as Nick and Mark headed back to finish the ride.

mark added: I think the two young men who escaped through the front door gave me courage in my eyes.
“I was wondering what would have happened if I hadn’t driven to Mortlake Road that morning.
It is not yet known how the fire started, but investigations are ongoing.
