The Spanish government has shared a new body positivity campaign on social media, but one of the models who claims to support it is not aware of it (Image: Ministry of Equality / Nyome Nicholas-Williams).

A British model claims she didn’t even ask the Spanish government before using her image in a new body positivity campaign.

“Summer is ours too”, reads the slogan of the beauty standards that are ready to go to the beach.

However, Nyome Nicholas-Williams, who goes by Curvy Nyome on Instagram, is talking about posters depicting five women of various shapes and races when her aunt texted her to congratulate her.

“As a black woman my body is still protected and in general it reminds me that as a woman our body is not ours yet,” she told Spain’s Ministry of Equality as an artist. Please don’t contact me saying no. He about the illustration.

“I was really sad at first because I couldn’t control how my body was used in the pictures. Then I got really angry.”

He added: I asked my family to tell me I did well. What’s going on ‘

Nyome also fears that other models, including those proudly displaying mastectomy scars, have not been asked for permission.

“I wish I knew the rest of the women because I was able to build ties and take over the Spanish government like the Spice Girls,” she added.

Illustrations often avoided in advertising campaigns show women removing stretch marks, cellulite, and hair.

But one of the women sitting on the beach in a gold bikini is particularly similar to the photo Niom shared on Instagram in May.

That’s a good reason, but the campaigner and ambassador for the homeless charity Crisis stressed that his consent was asked and he deserved to be paid.

“I’ve experienced this before, and I had to fight really hard to get recognition and pay, but I still haven’t been paid what I’m worth,” he said.

After posting on social media this morning, Nio said the artist contacted him and provided compensation.

He said it was interesting. “They could have done it sooner. He’s responsive and he’s not pushy. It’s great to want to pay now, but I think it’s because I’m in trouble.”

Activists said he would participate if the Spanish government and artists contacted him first (Image: Nyome Nicholas-Williams).

The Spanish government has not yet contacted her, but her modeling agency has taken up the matter.

Nyom confirmed that he would participate in the campaign if requested in advance.

The campaign, which Nyom described as “cool,” drew praise in comparison to the infamous 2015 ad that asked London Underground commuters if their beach bodies were ready.

Ione Bellara, Minister of Social Rights of the Podemos Party, led by the Socialist Party, said about the campaign:

“All bodies are in action and we have the right to enjoy life as it is, without feeling guilty or ashamed. Summer is for everyone.”

I tried to seek feedback from the Ministry of Equality and the artists behind the illustrations.
