Three out of four Democrats want another presidential candidate in 2024 – Younger popularity plummets – Democrats expect losses in this year’s midterm elections
Its popularity is decreasing more and more Joe Biden in the Democratic camp, since according to the latest CNN poll, 75% of the party’s followers want someone else to run in the 2024 elections.
Most Americans are unhappy with the state of the country and the economy. Inflation remains high, while a new report released last Tuesday showed consumer confidence fell for a third straight month.
32% of respondents do not want to be re-elected Bidenwhile a few months ago this percentage was at 16%.
25% of those polled answered that they want Biden as the candidate, however this percentage was at 45% a few months ago.
Among those aged 45 and over, 31% want Biden as the candidate, but among those under 45, only 18% want him to be the candidate.
Age is a disadvantage
This element shows that the younger people consider the age of the American president as a disadvantage and believe that his powers will very likely betray him in a second presidential term.
The Biden administration is struggling to deal with runaway inflation that is hitting 40-year highs and forcing millions of Americans to face high prices on essentials like food, housing and gas.
The rise in prices comes in the wake of the pandemic, which is disrupting key global supply chains and of course the war in Ukraine which is further affecting oil and food prices.
Biden’s approval rating remains around 30 percent, according to a separate CNN poll released earlier this month, as Democrats brace for further losses in the midterm elections.
The CNN poll was released the same day as a new poll from the University of New Hampshire showing that just 31 percent of New Hampshire Democrats want Biden re-elected and 59 percent don’t want him to run again.
In June, 54% of New Hampshire Democrats said they did not want him to run again.
