Pope Francis: Invited the legend Hristo Stojskov to a football match for peace

The Bulgarian football legend will play in a match in Rome on October 10

Pope Francis invited the legend of Bulgarian football, Hristo Stojskovto participate in the 3rd Football Game for Peace, according to a post by Stoytskov on his Facebook account.

The sports and interfaith event will take place in Rome on October 10.

In his post on Facebook, Stoytskov writes that it is a great honor for him that Pope Francis invited him to take part in the football match for peace.

“It will be great to play with a lot of my friends. Pope Francis is a great champion of sports and football, I am sure his words will reach millions!” he says in his post.

The Soccer Match for Peace event is promoted by Pope Francis with the main goal of sending a message of peace and unity to the entire world through sport, the official website of the event states. The participants are the most important professional footballers and the most famous football legends from all over the world, from different religions and religious beliefs.

The previous two events were held at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico in 2014 and 2016. Among the 100 stars who took part were Diego Armando Maradona, Francesco Totti, Ronaldinho, Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon, Paolo Maldini, Andrea Pirlo, Diego Simeone, Javier Maserano , Roberto Baggio, Samuel Eto’o, David Trezeguet, Robert Pires, Javier Zanetti, Carlos Valderrama and Andriy Shevchenko.
