Currently, the United States leads the world in monkey cases in countries where the disease is not endemic.

According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released Thursday, there are 4,097 cases in 47 US states.

The report was written Tuesday by the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research Policy. Since then, the United States has added another 1,420 procedures.

Last week, the World Health Organization declared the virus a global emergency. On Thursday, New York and San Francisco declared states of emergency in these regions as cases continued to grow and demand for vaccines outstripped supply.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the distribution of the monkeypox vaccine nearly 800,000 times nationwide.

As of Friday, there were 1,383 confirmed cases of monkeypox in New York. Of these cases, 1,289 were reported in New York City.

Mary Bassett of the New York City Health Commission declared monkeypox an imminent threat, telling the local health department to “support case studies, identify and monitor contacts, exposed contacts and high-risk groups. Vaccination, education, and outreach to the public health center.”

San Francisco Mayor London Breed also announced his government’s plans to fight the monkeys.

Brady has revealed that the city will not implement “behavior restrictions” as it did during the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the city is focused on using the state of emergency to free up resources to fight the virus.
